Street Photography Workshop Scandinavian Photo
Saturday, March 14th, I held a workshop in Street Photography at Scandinavian Photo in Gothenburg. It was a day full of street photography, laughter and extremely ambitous students.
Quick review of my workshop in street photography
We gathered at the city library in Gothenburg Saturday morning, and briefly reviewed how the day would look like. Many of the participants expressed a fear to photograph strangers, and much of the focus of the course were to overcome this particular fear. Once you have photographed an unknown person at close range, it'll struck you how many people actually like being photographed.
Missions to accomplice
To challenge the participants to photograph outside their comfort zone, I gave them five different tasks to perform during the day. The assignments were designed to gradually get the participants to get closer and become bolder in their street photography.
Photographers often have a preconceived idea that people will be angry when you photograph them. The participants were quickly prove otherwise, and was both surprised and relieved that it was so easy and joyful to photograph strangers.
On the move in my favorite places in Gothenburg
The course went through different parts of Gothenburg. I wanted to show my personal favorite spots, all of which have a special feeling and mood. The participants were constantly shooting, allways aware of everything that was happening around them.
Never miss the town Market hall
I'm very fond of market halls, and I always try to plan a visit to the city market hall when I'm travelling. Gothenburg Market Hall is a Mecca for photographers. Beautiful light, great people and things happening everywhere. Perfect opportunity to pause for a lunch.
Magasinsgatan - one of my favourites
Magasinsgatan is an oasis in the middle of the city, and one of my favorites. Beautiful people, wonderful atmosphere and plenty of photo opportunities.Allways framed in great light.
Street photography and laughter with new friends
It was a long day with lots of photos. Despite tired feet, the participants had great spirit and many laughs.
